Walton-Verona Independent School is looking for a District Director of Athletics for the 2024-2025 school year.

TITLE:   

DISTRICT DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS

REPORTS TO:  

PRINCIPAL

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Kentucky certification

Experience with KHSAA-sponsored sports

Effective utilization of technology

Effective communication and public relations skills

JOB FUNCTION:

To provide each student an opportunity to participate in an extra-curricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport, and the principles of fair play.

DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborates with faculty to establish and maintain high academic standards of success for student-athletes
• Organizes and administers the overall program of extracurricular athletics for high school and middle school
• Foster good school–community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program
• Assist the coaches in scheduling athletic events and practices
• Works with all stakeholders and assumes responsibility for the proper supervision and equipment for home events
• Arranges transportation for athletic contest participants
• Approves purchases for individual athletic programs
• Secures and verifies all necessary documentation from stakeholders to ensure student athletic participation
• Supervises ticket sales, concessions, and fundraising events
• Provides annual and periodic meetings with coaches to establish expectations and develop strong communication relationships
• Meets annually and periodically with the Athletic Booster Club to establish expectations and develop strong communication relationships
• Maintains the Walton-Verona Athletic Handbook – Ensures that coaches and parents meet annually to discuss its contents and establish expectations
• Abide by all policies, bylaws, and guidelines established by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association, the Walton-Verona Board of Education, and the Walton-Verona High School & Middle School School-Based Decision-Making Councils
